Privacy Policy
Word History is built around local storage and user control.
This page describes the data handled by the Word History macOS app and this static website.
Data Stored Locally by the App
Word History stores information on your Mac so it can preserve and display Microsoft Word AutoRecover history. Depending on your use, local data may include:
- Copies of AutoRecover document artifacts captured as snapshots.
- Preview text or metadata generated from captured snapshots.
- Recovery source settings, including the folder you selected.
- Operational state such as monitoring status, recovery operations, and cleanup records.
- Local diagnostic logs used to troubleshoot app behavior on your Mac.
What the App Does Not Collect
Word History does not require an account and is not designed to upload your documents, snapshots, filenames, logs, or recovery history to a remote service.
The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or cloud sync as part of its core local recovery workflow.
Microsoft Word and AutoRecover
Word History works with the AutoRecover files that Microsoft Word creates
in the recovery folder you configure. The recommended setup is to use a
user-managed folder, such as ~/Documents/WordAutorecovery,
for both Word and Word History.
This Website
This website is a static HTML and CSS site. It does not run a framework, require an account, or include external tracking scripts.
If analytics, crash reporting, contact forms, or other hosted services are added later, this policy should be updated to describe what those services collect and why.
Support
If you contact support, only include the information needed to diagnose the issue. Avoid sending private documents, full recovery filenames, or logs unless specifically requested and reviewed by you first.
